biography | Wes Woodland

Wes Woodland grew up on a small farm in the Sierra Foothills between Auburn and Grass Valley, California where he graduated from Placer High School. Woodland received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of California Davis in Rhetoric and Communication with a minor in Environmental Geology. At UCD, he played collegiate football and produced his own radio shows for four years at KDVS 90.3 fm while re-establishing and leading the News Department for two years.

He moved to Los Angeles immediately after graduation and has amassed 26 award-winning years in the entertainment industry. From writing and producing on-air promotions for FOX Kids, Kids WB, UPN, CBS & FOX Family to five plus seasons editing and storytelling on the hit dating show Blind Date, Wes has seen it all. One of his most recent TV successes was ABC's The Bachelorette (Season 11) which drew its highest ratings in many years. For 11 plus seasons, Woodland’s story contributions have been seen by millions of viewers on the number one rated daytime talk show, CBS Television’s Dr. Phil.
Wes had the pleasure of working for George Lucas in his THX division and the honor of escorting the theatrical print of Steven Spielberg's "The Lost World" to London to oversee the distribution of prints throughout Europe.

His academic background is a blend of communication expertise and technology know-how. Originally a computer science major, Wes shifted to communication which is at the center of connecting the individual, society and technology. He earned his Bachelor's in Rhetoric & Communication from the University of California, Davis.

When Wes is not hiking or backpacking through America's National Parks, you can find him doing homework with his two amazing girls, volunteering at local schools, or spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Woodland has directed many celebrities and sports figures including Emily VanCamp, Jeff Gordon, Kenny Wallace, Frankie Muniz, Roger Lodge, Gary Busey, Michael Keaton, Charlie Rose and more.
